Cycle, Train, Gold Discovery Tour, & Shuttle

Paeroa – Karangahake – Waikino – Waihi – 25 km (15 km with train)

Leaving Hauraki Cycle Trail Depot in Paeroa at 09.00 a.m. cycle east through the Karangahake Gorge on to Waikino with plenty of time to enjoy the Karangahake Gorge and the looped Windows Walk through the upper Karangahake Gorge. At Waikino either catch the 1.00 p.m. train to Waihi or carry on riding the additional 10 km to Waihi. Time for a coffee and a snack before taking the Gold Discovery Tour at 2.30 p.m. At the end of the tour meet our sherpa shuttle to return you back to your car in Paeroa.

Waihi Gold Mine Tours takes you inside the fence to experience modern-day gold mining up close and relate colourful stories from the mine’s past. To complement your Waihi Gold Mine Tour, allow enough time to take in the Waihi Gold Experience.

Tour 2

Cycle, Train & Shuttle                                

Paeroa – Karangahake - Waikino - Waihi – 25 km  

Starting at Paeroa your ride takes you through the Karangahake Gorge with the famous “Windows Walk” and the Victoria Battery. Your train ride starts at Waikino Café Station to Waihi Train Station. Our Sherpa Shuttle bus will return you to your car at Paeroa.                                 

Waihi – Waikino – Karangahake - Paeroa – 25 kms

Starting from Waihi take the train ride to Waikino Café, your cycle ride takes you through the Victoria Battery and the Karangahake Gorge with the famous “Windows Walk” your ride ending in Paeroa, then shuttle bus back to your car at Waihi Station.
